General Rules:
- All trades must work in FBB.
- The 60-day trade rule is NOT in play. Have at it.
- Maximum of 5 players may be traded by one team in a given trade. (Cash, picks, and stashed European players do not count towards the total). Multi-part trades are not allowed.
- Multi-team (3 or more) trades are not allowed.
- All releases done in order to create roster space for a trade must be posted in individual threads in the Waiver Wire section.
- If you trade away a player, you cannot acquire him until the day you traded him away in the next season. For example, if you trade away a player on Day 11 (after Sim 1) this season, you cannot re-acquire him via trade until Day 11 of the following season. If you trade away a player during the off-season, you cannot re-acquire him until the following off-season.
- If your team is hard capped at the luxury tax, you cannot make any trade that would put you over the luxury tax.
- All trades involving a player must include either one player or draft pick being traded to the team dealing the player. In other words, you cannot trade a player for nothing/cash. If you want an easy workaround, trade a Top 53 protected 2nd round pick. Once a Rookie Draft begins, all picks in that draft count as players as well.
Rules on Picks:
- You cannot trade picks that are more than seven years in the future. All pick protections must be settled with the same seven-year period. For example, if 1996 is the upcoming draft, you can only trade picks up to the 2002 Rookie Draft.
- Stepien Rule: You cannot go back-to-back years without a first round draft pick. The pick does not have to be your own, but you must have at least one first round pick every other year. For example, if you have traded away your 1996 first round pick, you must have possession of at least one unprotected 1997 first round draft pick. This rule does not apply to the current year once the draft has started.
- It is up to the GM's making the trade to outline any and all protections on draft picks in the trade, and what happens if the pick does not immediately convey.
- If you are adding swap rights to a pick, you must specify what pick (only one) can be swapped with said pick.
- If you have possession of another team's first, you can only protect it in a future trade if you received it as an unprotected pick. In other words, you cannot add protections or stipulations to a pick that's already protected.
- Any pick protection must leave at least five consecutive picks for the protection to not convey. In other words, the maximum protection for a first round pick is 1-24 (or 2-25, 3-26, etc.), and the maximum protection for a second round pick is 30-53.
- Instead of a protection or a swap, you can give a team the option to defer the draft pick one year if you'd rather. Protections and deferrals cannot be combined, however.
- All previously established pick protections must be cited in all future deals of said protected pick, for full transparency.
Sign & Trades: (also covered in Off-Season Free Agency Rules)
- If a player was signed to a non-minimum contract in the off-season, he is subject to sign-and-trade rules.
- Acquiring any player via sign-and-trade hard caps your team at the luxury tax number for the season.
- If a player is signed to a three-year contract or longer (options years DO count as a year in this sense), he can be traded right away. Otherwise, he cannot be traded until Day 21.
- All sign-and-trades cannot be put through until the free agency period has concluded.
- If a player was signed to an offer sheet by another team during the off-season, he cannot be traded until Day 61. He cannot be traded to the team that signed him to the offer sheet until the following off-season.
Miscellaneous:
- The most amount of money you can put in a trade is $3,000,000.
- All sign-and-trades during the off-season cannot be processed until free agency is over.
- If the league is waiting on a depth chart from you and the scheduled sim time has already past, you can only make a trade if the Commissioner approves it as a deal necessary for your roster.
- Similarly, if a trade requires you to make further moves that can't realistically be made before the scheduled sim time, I have the right to delay the processing of a trade until after the sim for the benefit of the league.
- All trade agreements are final. It doesn't matter if other GM's don't think you made a good trade or if you are having second thoughts, own your trades.
- Do not come to me and ask how much a trade is off by. I have too much on my plate as it is to hold your hand through a deal. If you do not know why a trade isn't working, there are plenty of other GM's who can help you.
- Don't be a dick. Ripping off an unsuspecting GM doesn't make you any better of one.
As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.
