Mourning nearing max dealOne of the most sought after players of this year's free agent class may be leaving the market as soon as he hits it. According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, C Alonzo Mourning is very close to agreeing to a five-year contract worth over $35 million dollars -- the maximum contract he can sign coming off of his rookie deal. Terms of the deal cannot be finalized until the end of the Free Agency Moratorium at 7:00 PM EST tonight. Mourning's return to Portland would give them arguably the most loaded roster in TSFBL heading into the 1996 season. The 1993 Playoff MVP would be joined by Vin Baker, who also has a championship and Playoff MVP (1994) to his name. On top of that, the Trail Blazers have five rookies from the 1996 Rookie Draft in tow, headlined by lottery picks Allen Iverson (#2 overall) and Shareef Abdur-Rahim (#12). The Trail Blazers have been very busy this off-season, but re-signing Mourning has always been priority #1. Mourning has played all four seasons of his young career in Portland, and led them to the TSFBL Championship in 1993. With him off the market, teams will likely shift their attention to three-time MVP and 1995 Playoff MVP Shaquille O'Neal, who has hinted at wanting out of New Jersey sooner rather than later.
