We don’t want to waste any more time in locking up one of the best SG’s in the game.
We appreciate the backseat you took last season as our coaching staff tried to navigate the best way to integrate you into a offense heavily centered around Penny and Ray.
Not only did you exceed expectations, but also showed so many more levels to your game.. enough to warrant a bigger role this season. We will fulfill that promise.
We want Doug to know how important it is to us that we’re able to keep him apart of this team for however long he chooses, what he brings to this team as a shooter/scorer .. playmaker .. defender .. great locker room guy all these factor in our offer which is the only one a All NBA caliber player deserves:
Our Offer Maximum - 4yrs - 8%

Commish: This offer is invalid. The most you can offer Doug, who is NOT coming off his rookie contract, on an extension is:
Year 1: $7,308,900 Year 2: $7,893,612 Year 3: $8,478,324 Year 4: $9,063,036 TOTAL $32,743,872
Proceeding with that contract...
FBB Agent: We appreciate the offer, and have genuine interest in re-upping with the Hornets. With that said, financially, it makes no sense to sign this extension now -- his maximum four-year contract in the off-season would total $45,696,000. Doug will be focusing on giving his all to the Hornets this season, and evaluating in the summer.
Verdict: OFFER DENIED
