Here's the 2001 Rookie Draft class, in full. Running a bit behind on the timeline this season, so just wanted to get ratings out there, even though I'm still combing through it myself. Just as before, these are the estimated peak ratings for these prospects, not how they will come into the league. The ratings are here to be griped; not providing input won't make the league move on any faster.

I think Diaw should be a slightly better rebounder, his peak came with the Hornets where he averaged 5, 5.2, and 5.9 boards. I know the rating could be slightly skewed if the offensive/defensive difference is noteworthy but still I believe he's a C+ rebounder

I’d say CRASH has woefully low rebounding. I’d think B rebounding for him. He was ELITE on the boards as a wing. At least B-.
To me Diaw, Crawford deserve higher handles.
Stevenson, Devin Brown deserve higher defense. Especially DeShawn. Dude got torched by Kobe and LeBron for a living. Wait that doesn’t help my argument.

More on Gerald Wallace. Career highs of 19.4ppg, 10rpg, 2.5spg, 2.1bpg
His “peak” is either his all star season of nearly 20-10-2-1.5-1.1 or his defensive peak of 15-7.5 with 4.6 STOCKS
I think his defensive grades look nice but I think his rebounding needs a bump!

The totals you posted for a guy who was mostly playing PF and small-ball C at that point in his career would indicate a below-average rebounder, to me.

Feel like a 4x all nba defender like Prince should have peak defense higher than B. Is it because he low steal rates?
'Mal Crafword handles bump (career per 36 2 topg)?

I knew Yao would suck Can’t even give him a better jump shot? Dude was money inside the arc It's really hard to get an OUT rating above a C with a very low three-point rating (2/10 for his career). But I will say, Yao doesn't suck. I think some of his letter grades might suffer from poor athleticism (quickness and jumping, specifically). I am going to increase his defensive rating to a B in all likelihood.

You went into more detail with Wallace below, so I'll save him for when I address that post. Crawford's handle already has been bumped, as I mentioned (new change log will reflect that). Diaw at C+ is where I want him, in that department. I've upped Stevenson and Devin Brown one notch each. Stevenson's defensive reputation definitely flipped in 2011 with the Mavericks, but I'm fine with it at B- because he did show great capability that season.

And my guy Stromboli is looking a bit weak. I think either defense or rebounding may deserve a bump. What is looking weak about him? Stromile Swift was a bum. It was evident pretty early on in his career that he wasn't going to work out. He has solid steal and block ratings, so you could argue that a B- defensive rating might be warranted, but even you don't seem to have much conviction in that.

First of all, would like to clarify that those 10 rebounds per game came in over 40 minutes per game. It was 8.8 rebounds per 36 minutes. Second of all, worth noting that I tend to look at peaks as 3-5 year periods, not one year blips (sorry in advance, those of you who want Isaiah Thomas to be an MVP candidate in his prime) Finally, while defensive rebounding is weighted slightly more, the REB grade is a lot about offensive rebounding, as well. Wallace's defensive rebounding peak rating is above average for small forwards, power forwards, and hell... even for centers. I'll have to see how he tests but leaving where it is for now.

Exactly; it's very hard to get Prince much higher without artificially turning him into a steals merchant. He will be a great defender. Already addressed Crawford.

Rasual Butler
I feel his Outside needs to be dropped to a B-. He’s a career 36% 3pt shooter and never averaged more above 2 made 3’s a game in his career, while at times shooting over 5 per game.

Battier C+ to C inside scoring (career 58% at the rim)
B+ to A- outside. Career 38% from 3 with a couple of seasons shooting 40% with 4 attempts per game.

I think Mike Dunleavy Jr should have higher outside. When he played for the Pacers he shot well (outside of the injury recovery years) and was a great shooter later in his career
Same with Troy Murphy on the above.

Boris Diaw PF B- B- C+ C+ C
I remember Boris as a better scorer than he was. Might be being generous here.
Caron Butler SF B B- C B- C
Fine with his ratings. Another guy who I remember as being better than he probably was.
DeShawn Stevenson SG C+ B- C C+ D+
Stevenson was so important during the Mavs championship run. I'd give him better defense so he can contribute to a contender in a meaningful way as he did IRL
Desmond Mason SF B+ C C- C+ C
As long as this is all jumping, sure
Gerald Wallace SF B C+ C A- C
No one gets an A defense yet, right? Is GWall really an all time defender then? Iirc, same rating as Artest who was dominant on the wing defensively.
Jamaal Magloire C C+ C- D+ C+ B
B rebounding seems generous. But he was an all star once, can probably spare him B- inside for that reason.
Jamal Crawford SG C+ B+ C C D+
Crawford is top 5 ball handlers in history as far as I'm concerned. Give him high af handles and no passing. Make sure he can't start at PG and he won't be "a glitch"
Joel Przybilla C C D+ D- C+ B
He needs a nerf I'm sorry, he sucked. B rebounding for a guy who peaked at 8rpg or whatever, idc about per 36. Nerf needed
Mike Dunleavy SF C+ B C C+ C
Better shooter than this
Rasual Butler SF C+ B+ D+ C+ C-
D+ rebounding and C inside
Tayshaun Prince SF B- B- C B C
Deserves better defense and scoring, dude is a legend
Troy Murphy PF C+ B D+ C B-
Sure I guess, sus on rebounding but whatever
Yao Ming C B C D+ B- B-
Is this his starting ratings or his peak? What are we doing here lol. Yao had a short career but was dominant when he played. Gerald Wallace is gonna be a B+ defender while Yao is B-? Troy Murphy is the same quality rebounder as Yao Ming? Come on...Yao was also doing 25 PPG one year while shooting over 50%, he was an all star like 6 years in a row.
Zach Randolph PF B+ C C- C B+

I'm fine with him being at B-. - It is a lot of jumping, but I do think you have a point on Desmond Mason. I'll lower to a B. - Nobody has been higher than A-. While I agree that G-Wall isn't in the class of Artest, he was a huge stocks guy and the defensive metrics in game really overvalue that. I've fine-tooth combed him, but still an A-. - Magloire was always a very good rebounder. Leaving it at a B. - Crawford has the highest peak handles grade in the file. - Fine with nerfing Przybilla a tad, I don't want him being way more capable than he was in real life. - As I already mentioned, Tayshaun is a great defender in this file and his rating is held back by stocks. - I can artificially increase Yao's inside a tad via jump rating, but I promise you he'll score whether I do that or not. His defense was already upped to a B. Would consider upping his rebounding a tad but he's on the fringe regardless.
