We’ve recently acquired Aaron and we want to immediately jump into discussions of a contract extension. We’re committed to keeping him around as the core comes together and we can clearly see what we’re working with as a team. We feel that as a multi-time champion and All-NBA member, he’s worthy of a lucrative offer. We’re hoping to pay him for what he will do, rather than what he’s already done, though. And as he is already 30 before this extension kicks in, as the second or third option behind Marbury and maybe even McGrady, we’re hoping to figure out a contract that benefits both sides. We’d like to offer a couple different angles on this.
Option 1) Full max extension, for 2 additional years at an 8% increase.
Option 2) Starting annual value of $8,999,999 with no increase, but for 5 years.
This gives Aaron the option of taking full financial advantage now (and being eligible to work on a new contract again when the cap presumably is much higher in 3 seasons), or to take the safe money now at a still large and substantial rate.
We’re open to discussion but we wanted to clarify our goals to building a championship core - something we know Aaron values being a key part of.

FBB Agent: Let's take the ridiculous second offer off the table and just look at #1. Aaron McKie was All-League Second Team this season and deserves to be paid as such. A max extension for him for 2 years is $24,710,400 in total value. Signing this would be given up millions if Aaron feels he can get a max in the off-season, which he does. He bet on himself once five years ago, and is more than prepared to do it again. We're hoping this will be a long and fruitful relationship in Vancouver, where Aaron started his career. With that said, financially, it makes the most sense for Aaron to play this out. We look forward to talking in the off-season. Verdict: OFFER DECLINEDYou can consider this matter closed.
