Hello LaPhonso, we’d like to offer you an extension to stay in Vancouver for a threepeat. This two year extension will allow you to win the rings to get you into the hall of fame next to your impressive, but so far fruitless statistics.
We’d like to offer you a starting salary of $6,969,696 for two years, no increase, to take you to your age 35 season.
We think this is a fair offer given your age and career trajectory, as well as the other pieces we have on this roster.

He's happy to be back in a winning situation, but how can you expect him to just sign up for a pay cut without even testing the market after his best season in years? No thank you. Verdict: OFFER DECLINEDFeel free to counter below.

Verdict: OFFER DECLINEDFeel free to counter below. FBB Agent, you drive a HARD BARGAIN but I suppose we aren’t going to have cap space next season anyway. We want to offer something where we can meet halfway - a payday but also a chance for us to content in the long haul Option 1) let’s go with a max starting salary - $8,640,000 - with no increase for two years. This lets you hit FA before 35 to get another significant contract (or extension) that also keeps our flexibility slightly open for the roster around you when the cap is projected to stay fairly level. Option 2) let’s go with a smaller salary - $7,200,000 - with a 5% decrease, but for the maximum number of years allowable - so that you can consider this a final payday and lock in a sure amount or cash. We’re flexible to continue discussions but would like to hear what you think of these offers. Our main goal is a title run every year as far down the line as we can go, so we’re counting on you to be a piece of that!

We are open to discussing longer term deals as well but financially speaking, the ability to take a pay bump now then hit FA again while still relatively young may be lucrative!

Alright! We’d like to offer an extension of one year, $8,640,000 FBB Agent: The idea of a one year extension isn't appealing to LaPhonso. He's had a difficult time assimilating into the Grizzlies' team, and he'd like to see some long term commitment from the organization if he's going to put pen-to-paper on an extension.

We would alternatively be willing to offer a slightly smaller salary annually but for a much longer commitment - we have identified that he is a core starter for us as we chase the best record in the league and want him here long term, but as he ages we need to balance out what we would assume will be some level of diminishing return. Offer: $7,000,000 starting annual salary, with a maximum decrease but maximum years on this extension offer. We’d like to hear what you think, LaPhonso!

FBB Agent: We've already mentioned we aren't interested in taking a pay cut. You are offering to extend a player who was averaging 25 PPG and well on his way to being an all-star before being traded to Vancouver. He has willingly accepted not being featured offensively in Vancouver (under 10 field goal attempts per game). You are paying for him to not hit the open market, where a max for him would be over $15,000,000 -- not suggesting he would get this. All he has asked for is the most you can offer. These negotiations have gone in circles, so I will post an offer below, and you can either take it or leave it, but there will be no counters. Year 1: $8,640,000 Year 2: $9,331,200 Year 3: $10,022,400 TOTAL: $27,993,600Feel free to accept or decline below.
