Well, Big Al, you were one of the first real pieces I brought to the organization upon my hiring and we'd like to keep you around even longer. Things haven't exactly taken off for either of us but we still view you as an exciting young player that is developing and improving every day. With that in mind, we would like to offer you a bridge deal that could have you hit free agency again in a few seasons for a bigger payday.
Offer: 3 Years (3rd year player option) Starting Salary: $5,500,000 Annual Increase: 5%
Thanks for your time.

Dear Orlando Magic Management, I am writing to inform you that my client, Al Jefferson, has decided to decline the contract extension offer that was presented to him by the team. While we appreciate the offer, we believe that Al, who is only 23 years old, has shown too much promise to lock him into a long-term contract at such a low starting value at this time. Admittedly, his first three years in the league have been up and down, but we remain confident in his abilities and potential. We understand that the proposed salary number of $5,500,000 may be the best offer the team can make at this time, but we are not opposed to extending Al's contract with the Orlando Magic. We are willing to continue negotiations with the team and hope that a revised offer can be made that reflects Al's true value. However, we are also willing to gamble on ourselves and play out Al's contract in restricted free agency. This will give Al the opportunity to further develop his skills and demonstrate his worth to not only the Magic, but to the entire league. We appreciate the team's continued interest in Al and look forward to working with the Orlando Magic organization to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Sincerely, FBB Agent VERDICT: OFFER DECLINEDFeel free to counter below.
