Dear Philadelphia 76ers Management,

I am writing to thank you for your recent offer to extend Steve Francis' contract. As Francis' agent, I appreciate the generous nature of the offer, which would see him earn $61,025,278 over four years, the maximum extension offer allowed per league rules.

However, after careful consideration, we believe that Francis is a maximum contract guy or at least very close to it. We acknowledge that the offer made by the 76ers is a good one, but we feel that Steve has played himself into a higher bracket of compensation. Therefore, at this time, Francis will not be accepting the offer.

Please understand that our decision is not a reflection on the organization or its commitment to its players. We believe that the 76ers have been fair and transparent throughout the negotiation process, and we thank you for that. Steve would very much be open to playing many more years in Philadelphia.

That said, we would be open to revisiting the offer during the season, depending on how things go. We appreciate the team's interest in keeping Steve on board and look forward to continued discussions with the organization.
