Hi Tyson + Team,
We are looking at bringing you back and were wondering if you would be willing to help us out by taking a frontloaded deal as an extension to help us with future FA signings and luxury tax payments.
Looking at this year's FA bids, we saw that the deals ranged from the MLE for someone like Kendrick Perkins to the top of Battie, who scored a 8,640,000 aav deal. Splitting the difference between that market would get is to roughly 7000000 for the inbetween market.
We would like to offer you something within that fair market range, would you be willing to take a deal at 4 years, starting at 7,000,000, with 8% decreases to help us manage our payroll moving forward? You would be making above MLE value for the lifetime of the contract minus the final year, and would secure above market pay right now this offseason. In return, we are benefiting with 4 years of team control an a lower cap number as we pay the rest of the youngsters on the team.
Please let us know your thoughts.
Thank you, Heat Management

Thank you, Heat Management Dear Miami Heat Organization, I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you on behalf of my client, Tyson Chandler, in response to your recent contract extension offer. We appreciate your interest in Tyson's abilities and contributions to the team, but unfortunately, we must decline the offer as it currently stands. While we understand that you have made comparisons to Tony Battie and Kendrick Perkins in your offer, it is important to note that Tyson Chandler is both younger than these players and believes himself to be a superior talent. As such, it would be more appropriate to assess his value based on his individual merits and performance. Additionally, the structure of the proposed contract, with yearly decreases of 8%, is not aligned with Tyson's expectations. The request to accept a decreasing contract implies that the team would be willing to overpay at the beginning of the deal, which regrettably does not reflect in your current offer. Considering Tyson's experience, skill set, and potential for further growth, we believe a more suitable offer would need to be significantly higher than the $7,000,000 annual salary you have presented. We kindly request that you reconsider the terms of the extension and provide an offer that better reflects Tyson's value and contributions to the team. We understand that negotiations involve a certain level of back-and-forth, and we are open to continuing discussions in order to reach a mutually beneficial agreement. Tyson has a genuine desire to remain a part of the Miami Heat organization, but it is important that his value and potential are adequately recognized in any contractual arrangement. Thank you for your understanding and consideration. We look forward to hearing back from you with an improved offer that reflects Tyson's worth to the team. Sincerely, FBB Agent Verdict: OFFER DECLINEDFeel free to counter below.

Sincerely, FBB Agent Verdict: OFFER DECLINEDFeel free to counter below. Hi Tyson + FBB Agent, We did some research on some historical comparisons of players who we have scouted that we believe match Tyson's peak potential. Regrettably, Tyson's current production does not match the level of what we have expected, but we are still willing to pay Tyson as if he will reach his potential, even though some of the historical comparisons have been much further along. After looking at some of the other offer sheets that top bigs have signed, we have decided to exclude both the MLE in our comparison and consider Battie as the lower end of Tyson's market. As such, we have decided to increase the initial offer by 33%. We would like to now set Tyson's market as such to 9,310,000 with the 8% decrease. We look forward to hearing back from you and also understand that there is some back and forth when it comes to settling a mutual arrangement that benefits both organizations. It is our hope to lock up Tyson in the near term ahead of the deadline and would appreciate any clarity Tyson and his management would be willing to provide in case we are mistaken on any point. Thank you, Heat Management

Thank you, Heat Management This is still too low for us. Ben Wallace and Marcus Camby both earned increasing contracts starting with eight-figure salaries in their recent free agencies, and those were both unrestricted. Tyson is 22 years old and unwilling to commit himself to such a low average salary (averages out to $8,192,800 per season -- lower than Tony Battie is making). Especially if you're married to the idea of a decreasing contract, you're going to have to come over the top and overpay what you think he's worth. If not, I'd bet there's plenty of teams out there in restricted free agency who'd take a swing on a 23-year old with the defensive and rebounding prowess of Chandler.

Ben Wallace and Marcus Camby earned those contracts and have the awards and accolades to prove it. Tyson so far has not been able to earn any accolades in his career at that range, but we understand and want him to be able to get to that point in his career. As such, we are willing to start the contract at 10,700,000 and will hope that his production at the slot will match the salary given- we are hoping that by giving Tyson his payday it will positively manifest into better stats and can keep a core player happy. We have moved up over 50% from our initial offer and increased another 15% from our previous position.

Verdict: OFFER COUNTEREDFeel free to accept, decline, or counter below.

Verdict: OFFER COUNTEREDFeel free to accept, decline, or counter below. We are delighted to have made progress in the deal. We will counter with 12m starting, 8% decreases, last year remains guaranteed. We'll accept that offer with a player option in the fourth year. If Tyson drastically outplays that third-year value ($10,080,000), why would you not want him to get rewarded accordingly? Wouldn't that be the best thing that could possibly happen for the Miami Heat?

Yes, it would be great if he outplayed that deal but as of now the evidence just isn't there and we believe that the 4th year being guaranteed is a fair risk for both parties to take - we are taking on the potential risk if he does not outplay his 3rd year value. We would prefer if the 4th year was gtd and did not push for a team option to make this deal team friendly. If Tyson insists on a 4th year player option we would expect his representation to give us something in return.

We already are giving you something in return -- the declining contract that you insisted on, which is something that hurts Tyson in future extension negotiations. We need a player option to get this deal done. Tyson will be 25 at the time of that decision, and should he blossom into the star he's capable of becoming, I see no reason why the Heat organization wouldn't want to reward him as such. If you can't add the player option to this declining deal, we're going to have to play this out next summer.

A team option, from the perspective of the player, is worse than the deal being fully guaranteed. So we're certainly not amenable to the starting salary being lowered AND a team option being added in. If you meant for that to be a player option, please say so.
