Best Regards, The Indiana Pacers Organization FBB Agent: Thanks for your offer. First of all, you can only offer 5 years on an extension if it's a max contract. But let's move ahead assuming you'd toss out the same deal for four years. We just saw Kirk Hinrich get a much heftier chunk of change than this as a restricted free agent. While Mo might not quite be the player Kirk is, we all saw what he could do before the offense was changed around to put the ball in his hands less. We think he could get more than this in an offer sheet on the open market, and thus we'll have to decline at this time. Verdict: OFFER DECLINEDFeel free to counter below.

Hello Mo, We do value your input on this matter, and as for citing Hinrich we also did see a comparable player attribute wise as well as production wise as a starter go for just the MLE in Steve Blake. It is a gamble going on the open market for you based on this wide range of values, we are willing to amend our offer though to stand in the upper echelon of that gray area between what Steve Blake went for and what Kirk Hinrich went for. Our counter offer is as follows:
4 years (player option in the 4th year) 11,250,000 8% increasing
We hope to hear your input, The Pacers Org

I understand the market can dry up on certain players at times, but as a restricted free agent, I'm not worried about what happened to Steve Blake happening to him. All it takes is one team to see his outside scoring and handling skills and throwing him the bag -- something I know you want to avoid. Your offer is for four years, $50,400,000. I'll counter with 4 for $60,000,000 (still less than what Hinrich got), and you can pick the increase percentage however you like to fit your team's cap needs in the upcoming seasons. But just as a heads up, it can't be negative, as it would need to surpass the maximum year one salary to get to $60,000,000 total on the contract. Verdict: OFFER COUNTEREDFeel free to accept, decline, or counter below.

I'm going to hold firm. With Posey's contract coming off the books, the team's cap sheet is pretty clean in the coming years, and Mo Williams at the slightly higher number isn't going to have luxury tax implications, even with a potential Stephen Jackson max contract coming in. As the cap goes up, I don't think this has any chance of looking like a bad deal as it ages -- he's a vital part of the team moving forward. Also for clarity, if we do stick to the 8% raise number, the contract starts at $13,392,857, not even a full million above your base salary offered above. Verdict: OFFER COUNTEREDFeel free to accept or decline below.
