As I've already mentioned on Discord, I think we all felt that the first season of TSFBL was a complete drag. We had plenty of instances where a team's unawareness/indifference towards updating their depth chart, when necessary, completely ground the sim pace to a standstill. This league cannot operate without 29 GM's who are willing to do their part to keep the league going, and also needs those GM's to step up and help people out with reminders and advice when necessary. This was outlined from the jump.
I don't think expecting GM's to check proboards once every few days to see if they are required to make an update is asking too much, but there's clearly a disconnect there that forces other GM's (shoutout dez) to remind them that they need to do something -- maybe it would be helpful if these Discord reminders came earlier in the sim cycle if people aren't going to check proboards frequently enough.
So now we're at a point where we're probably another slow season away from the league being over. I'm sure common sense might just say to call it now, but I know there's enough people out there that want to keep this going that I'm willing to give it one more season. As long as those people are acting in the best interest of the league and not doing things to hinder it, I'll be around.
Obviously, some changes are needed, and we can try to figure out ways to keep the sim schedule from dragging down. With that said, the realism aspect is a part of TSFBL and is not going away. Again, this is what you signed up for when you committed in the first place. If you've changed your mind, feel free to drop.
Now to the check-in. If we're at a point where this takes a week to complete, or we can't even get close to the number we need and can't immediately find replacements, then that would not be a good sign going forward. The hope for any check-in is that all the GM's are here, want to be here, and we can move on quickly. Let's see how it goes.
