Kirk,
We had hoped bringing you in would help solidify our depth in the backcourt, however, our coaching staff did not see the same opportunity for you that we had envisioned when acquiring you. Rather than elevate your position in the team for the last 16 games with us, we would like to offer you an opportunity to find more playing time elsewhere.
Please consider our offer to pay out 92.5% of your contract, $8,741,250 prorated for the remaining games on our schedule. This would see you giving back $708,750 which should be less than you could earn if given another contract for the remainder of the season.

I do think your math is wrong, and that $9,234,070 would be the minimum about Hinrich would give back and still earn his full $9,450,000 salary for the season. This would be him giving back $215,930 to you, which would give you more space below the luxury tax. Is this agreeable to you?
