We are flexible if Shaq wants a shorter term to hit the market as a 10 year veteran. To start, we would like to formally offer Shaq the 5 year, maximum salary contract extension, with the full 8% annual increase.

FBB Agent: As I thought we cleared up last off-season, financially it makes no sense for Shaq to sign an extension, considering this number is far below the maximum contract he could get when he actually hits free agency. Remember, you can only offer him 120% of his previous contract as a starting number on an extension. For comparison, a maximum contract for Shaquille next season would start at $12,750,000. This is not Shaq saying he does not want to return to the Bucks; he will weigh his options when the time comes next summer.
