The 2007 Draft Lottery is due to begin shortly, and picks 1-13 will be revealed in short order! Feel free to follow along. Some housekeeping:

The Atlanta Hawks!

After narrowly missing out on the playoffs, the Hawks will add another lottery talent to a core that is low on time to try and prove themselves.

The 12th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Charlotte Hornets!

After drafting #1 a season ago, the Hornets find themselves much later in the draft after a promising season. Will they add a youngster to their core, or will they use this pick as ammunition to bolster their roster?

The 11th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Golden State Warriors!

One year after giving up the #7 overall pick, the Warriors are again in the lottery despite making positive strides towards the playoffs.

The 10th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Miami Heat, by way of the Chicago Bulls!

The Pacers landed themselves the right to swap picks with the Bulls in the Steve Blake trade, and then dealt away their first later on. The Heat are the beneficiaries of a top ten pick that should net them a player immediately ready to contribute, if he doesn't have too high of an INS grade. Four picks in, all chalk so far.

The 9th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Dallas Mavericks, by way of the Toronto Raptors!

Already well documented, this pick will go to the league due to the Mavericks' luxury tax payment a season ago. Without question, this is the highest pick to ever be forfeited, it will be interesting to see what type of haul it can get on the auction block.

The 8th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Sacramento Kings!

(32.01% chance of landing in this spot)

Will this team ever be good? Probably not, but I at least have to pretend in these write-ups. A top 8 pick to add to Danny Granger and Jameer Nelson should give the Kings no excuses this upcoming season.

The 7th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Los Angeles Clippers!

Seven picks in and still no jumps. The Clippers slot in at #7, where they'll have the opportunity to add a promising young player to the core of Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter.

The 6th pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Phoenix Suns!

(8.87% chance of landing in this spot)

Still no jumps! The Suns slot in at #6, leading everyone to question if the commissioner remembered to turn on the randomizer. With Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh already in tow, it's fair to wonder when this franchise will turn the corner into contention.

The Boston Celtics!

And just like that, we go from no teams jumping to four (2-5) all jumping into the top four. An absolutely brutal draw for the Celtics, who'll have to decide if they want to hop on the lottery rollercoaster for another season. This means the Wizards, Cavaliers, Nuggets and Lakers are all in the top four, stay tuned to find out the order!

The Washington Wizards!

The Wizards had a promising start to the season, but wound up with 54 losses and failed to make the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season. Luol Deng and Tony Parker are a good start, but there's a long way to go to turn this franchise around, and hopefully the #4 overall pick will help in that process.

The 3rd pick in the 2007 Rookie Draft belongs to:



The Los Angeles Lakers!

(11.3% chance of landing in this spot)

A late season surge may have cost the Lakers the best lottery odds this season, but perhaps it worked out for the best. While it's not the top prize, the #3 overall pick in a good draft will go a long way in helping turn around the once-storied franchise.

The Denver Nuggets!

The Nuggets pivoted between contending and rebuilding multiple times within the same season, and within the rules (!!) they were still able to land the #2 overall pick. For a team tasked with adding a lot of talent to the roster this off-season, this pick is a great start. And than means...

The Cleveland Cavaliers!

(14.07% chance of landing in this spot)

Things did not go as planned this season in Cleveland, but they ended up with a great consolation prize in the #1 overall pick. I'm not sure if there's a slam dunk selection at the top, but there are plenty of good options to choose from. Congratulations!
