Starting at the All-Star Break every season, all players with zero games played on the season will go on what I'll call "soft waivers" after every sim left in the regular season. "Soft waivers" implies that the player can be claimed at any time during the 24-hour period where they're on waivers, but the player's original team will have the ability to keep the player. To do so, the player's original team has 24 hours after the waiver period ends to put the player in a Backup role (second string) in their depth chart for the upcoming sim a. If they choose not to keep the player, the player will go to the claiming b team highest in the waiver order. For the last sim of the season, any players on Zero-Game waivers can be claimed immediately; the player’s original team will have no chance to block the claim by playing the player. Once the off-season begins, any players on your team still under contract who played in zero games the season before will be released from your roster and sent directly into off-season free agency. They cannot be claimed on waivers, and thus you cannot get out of the waived salary. If they had no years remaining on their contract and are impending free agents, you will not be allowed to retain their bird rights. If you want to avoid losing players to Zero-Game Waivers, make sure that all your players have played in at least one game before Day 60. Notes:a - If you decide to keep the player and play him, this depth chart change is final and cannot be reverted for that sim. b - All Waiver Wire Rules regarding claiming players still apply.
